Intro
SQL Spreads 8.0 is a major release introducing support for PostgreSQL and all three major cloud data platforms.
Main Improvements
- Support for PostgreSQL You can now use the SQL Spreads Excel Add-in to connect to and update data in PostgreSQL databases.
- Support for Cloud Data Platforms You can now use the SQL Spreads Excel Add-in to update data in all three major Cloud Data Platforms — Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
Minor Improvements
- Optimized performance when loading and saving data, with improvements of up to 10x in some cases.
- Improved Diagnostic file generation so that an open Excel document is no longer required.
- Added the ability to configure the batch size when saving data to the database, both as a default for new connections and individually for each connection.
- Increased the default batch size from 100 to 500 rows to improve save performance.
- When creating Tree Filters, added the ability to insert any column name into the query using the Quick-Add dialog.
- The per-machine installer now automatically detects 32-bit and 64-bit Office Desktop installations.
Fixes
- Fixed issue with Last Update display in License Manager.
- Fixed issue where the Designer panel remained open in some cases.
- Fixed issue where the Designer button remained checked after the Designer panel was closed.
- Fixed an issue when inserting new rows into a table without a primary key when the table contained rows with empty key values.
