The SQL Spreads story
For over a decade, I worked on various Business Intelligence projects, utilizing the Microsoft BI platform. This included tools like SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, and Excel for providing Data Warehouses and business analytics solutions to medium- and large-sized clients across Scandinavia.
In my experience, I often encountered situations where users updated data in Excel spreadsheets, which were then manually or semi-automatically transferred to SQL Server using tools like SSIS or VBA.
About ten years ago, I began developing SQL Spreads. My aim was to enable end-users to easily update data in Excel and seamlessly transfer it to a central SQL Server database. The tool has evolved through various stages, incorporating new features and changes based on customer feedback.
Since then, the customer base has been growing steadily. As of 2024 there are more than 900 customers in various industries using SQL Spreads, ranging from Nobel Prize-winning research institutes to some of the world’s largest corporations.
