Supported Databases
SQL Spreads connects to a range of databases — from Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL and PostgreSQL, to cloud data platforms through our Cloud Data Platforms Add-on. This page summarizes what's supported for each database, which plan it requires, and any current limitations.
Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL
Full support. All SQL Spreads features are available, including Pivoting, Views and SQL Server Tools.
Plan: Included in all plans. Signing in with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) authentication requires the Pro or higher plan. See pricing →
Supported authentication methods: Windows Authentication, SQL Server Authentication, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) Authentication.
PostgreSQL
You can connect SQL Spreads to PostgreSQL databases to read, edit, and manage data directly from Excel.
Plan: Included in all plans (Basic, Pro, Premium and Enterprise). See pricing →
Limitations: Views and Pivoting are not currently supported. We’re evaluating adding support for these features in a future release. The tools for creating new database tables from Excel tables, as well as modifying and copying existing tables (SQL Server Tools), are also not currently available.
Cloud Data Platforms Add-on: Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric
The Cloud Data Platforms Add-on connects SQL Spreads to Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric, so you can read and edit cloud data directly from Excel.

Support for Snowflake, Databricks and Microsoft Fabric a paid add-on and isn't listed on our standard pricing page yet. Contact us for pricing.
For existing customers with a SQL Spreads license purchased before October 1, 2026, the Cloud Data Platforms Add-on is included at no additional cost.
Limitations for Snowflake and Databricks: Views and Pivoting are not currently supported. We’re evaluating adding support for these features in a future release.
